What I Want for Christmas

I want Cleveland to learn to laugh at itself.
I want everyone in Cleveland to pick one little corner of it to save.
I want all of the jobless to find jobs. Or at least realize their potential as professional citizens.

So much laughter is abuse in not very good disguise, and Cleveland doesn't deserve more abuse. Yeah, laughing at yourself isn't the same thing as someone laughing at you. The one makes the other very difficult though.

What I want is for Cleveland to understand/believe/live that it is the ornament that sits atop the Christmas tree and shines for all to see and admire.

Really.

Laughter is good, but basic civic self-esteem is a pre-requisite.

The ornament on top of the tree - wow! A shiny plum, perhaps? ;)

I don't necessarily agree that self-esteem is a prerequisite, but it certainly can be a by-product - consider the geeky kid who gets relentlessly picked on until he realizes he can make the other kids laugh. There is a real art to learning to laugh at yourself *well*, I think!
