Down the Toilet

Our entire rebate check was sunk into the car yesterday. The car, something I don't even use and Jim wishes we didn't need.

Ack.

We had to spend ours on a new garage door. For a garage that's full of crap I want to get rid of anyway.

yeah, I'm not sure things are quite up and running yet. Like, witness the fact that I wrote this post over a week ago and it's just now showed up. Something isn't functioning between Blogger and my web hosting service.

We'd planned out an elaborate "local investment scheme" for this money, too, involving donating half of it to worthy causes. I hope the owner of whatever shop Jim took the car to is going to use the money for something useful, such as paying off his mortgage or putting in a college fund for his kid. It would depress me to think of it getting used to buy a plasma TV.

Living car-free is what I love most about New York City. Saves a ton of money - so much that I can afford to take my refund check and put most of it in my foreign bank account. Ever thought about getting one of those? The dollar is really on shaky ground right now.
