Resolutions
I dislike New Years for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that I still can't figure out what January is for.
I never keep resolutions, probably because the ones I make are too complicated. So this year, there are only two, and they're easy:
1. Read more. I want to live according to this quote by Ray Bradbury:
2. Plan my Grand Tour. I should've taken one while I was in college, or at least before I got married, or at the very least before I exited my twenties. Oh well.

"If you stuff yourself full of poems, essays, plays, stories, novels, films, comic strips, magazines, music, you automatically explode every morning like Old Faithful."

I think January is for ski trips, but I never seem to have the time and money to do that.
I wasn't going to make any resolutions, but I think I will. If I did make them, reading more would ALWAYS be on my list.
I'm in my mid 30's and I haven't had my Grand Tour.
Uh... the grand tour of Europe was done by wealthy trophy-brides. Is that what you are?
Ever read Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin?
I knew that one would bring you out of the woodwork, Fritz! No, this is going to be a more enlightened 21st century grand tour. If Rick Steves was planning a grand tour, it would be like this. And it's going to be done as cheaply as possible.
This is fun! One of my future grand tours (we have to have more than one no?) is a mississippi blues trip before all of the older blues guys are gone. Probably good seafood on my mind in that one too. I can see you travel blogging, Christine!
Love that Ray B. quote, Christine. Somehow never came across it, but it speaks to me on several levels. I'll try to remember to credit to you next time I use (steal) it.
John: You can credit "The Freelance Writer's Bible." That's where I found it.
