Take Your Swordfish Dessert and.....
Now that Michael Symon is The Next Iron Chef, the potential for culinary tourism in Cleveland is pretty ripe.
So...try this experiment: Google "things to do in Cleveland."
Are you happy with the results? Did you notice that Cool Cleveland doesn't come up in (at least) the first three pages of hits? (Note to people who've reached this page by Googling "things to do in Cleveland": just go here.)
[Bonus points: can anyone spot the error on the Positively Cleveland page?]
Now...what happens when you Google "food Cleveland"? Are you happy with those results? Does anything seem to be missing?
If you were a culinary tourist bent on visiting the home of Michael Symon, what would you want to see on your first page of Google hits?
Answers will be graded on penmanship....

Lorain Boulevard, heh.
You couldn't be more right. That's not what you want people to see when they are looking for things to do in Cleveland.
But looking at CoolCleveland.com the term your searching for appears nowhere on the page. The site is really not search engine optimized. The best way to find it is to stumble upon it through blog posts like yours or through other Clevelanders in the know.
This is why web design is important and why so many of us here in town are pushing web standards (http://webdesign.meetup.com/396/) and trying to influence some of the agencies around town to step up.
I'll get off my soapbox now. :)

That's why I linked directly to the Current Issue. :)
Good luck in your work!
Hey, thanks for the catch on the Positively Cleveland site. It was potentially a cross between Larchmere Boulevard and Lorain Avenue, but whatever the reason . . . it was wrong! We appreciate the input and made the change. We do have a food page off our front page . . . www.positivelycleveland.com/food is the direct link. We invited journalists to Cleveland before Symon's commanding win in conjunction with the Fabulous Food Show.
Hi Samantha - thanks for stopping by. I'd meant to report the error, but at a quick glance, I wasn't sure who to report it to... Maybe a "report a broken link/typo" on the "Contact Us" page would be useful...?
I'm not seeing the Positively Cleveland food page in the first three pages of Google hits yet, with a search for "Cleveland food tourism" - though oddly enough, this post currently appears at the bottom of the third page....
I also didn't immediately see a link to the Food page on the P.Cleve home page (I see it now... it says Culinary Experience+).
To be honest with you, I find the home page a bit difficult to look at. For instance, why is the Culinary Experience+ link not in the nav bar with Sports, Arts and Culture, Family, etc?
My "web-surfing eye" is actually trained away from any kind of small rectangular graphics within the page because - and you can see what I mean by reading any Yahoo News story - I assume it's "just an ad."
Thanks for linking to our ICTA (International Culinary Tourism Association) website. I couldn't agree more that now would be a great time for Cleveland to really step up their culinary tourism promotion (and as a native Clevelander myself, I'm so excited that they have this great opportunity!) I just wanted to commend Positively Cleveland for the really great culinary tourism content on their Culinary Experience page - keep up the good work! :-)
