For someone who's such a staunch advocate of public transportation, it may surprise you that I never learned how to ride a bicycle. I'm wondering how many other adults there are out there who can say the same thing....
Where would you have rode a bike on the West Side though? Rocky River Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks? There is much sprawl out in the part of the Cleveland metropolitan area.
Granted I learned as a youngster growing up during that interesting interlude in Garfield Heights (the dividing line between Cleveland and Garfield Heights was at a weird spot on Vineyard) but I must note that I was not always that good at it. Lo and behold since I moved to Ashtabula I found out that problems were due to vertigo.
If I somehow wind up out west in Portland, Seattle, or elsewhere (ask me by e-mail to explain)...I will need to find some very good walking shoes...
I learned to ride a bicycle during a single summer spent in the suburbs as a kid, but then didn't get on one again until adulthood - and it's true, you really never forget how to do it once you learn!
On the other hand - I never learned how to swim, or how to roller skate.
oops. i posted my reply to your previous post before reading this one. well, it's pretty easy and fun to ride a bicycle should you ever decide to learn. and it's even more fun to ride a motorcycle, for which you can definitely get one of those cool queens license plates! ;)

But to be "public transportation," it have to be a bicycle built for two, right?
