Tired of Nasty Fratty "Night Spots"
I really want to know where all the cool people hang out in Ocean County.
Cool restaurants don't have $5.95 all you can eat prime rib nights.
Cool coffee shops aren't located in the mall.
Cool brewpubs actually brew beer on the premises.
Cool live music venues don't ever let Bon Jovi in the door.
I'm not going to get into a verbal scrape with anyone about the definition of cool. If you want an idea of what I mean, check out Cool Cleveland. That's the kind of life I miss.

Around here I have Geneva on the Lake. Such is an interesting resort area when we do not have all this white fluffy crap on that ground (we just had some new squalls recently). Such will not open for at least three more months, alas.
Disconnects with society around you are not fun. I have been going through several lately. Of course, living in a county that is so blue that the editor of a local mainstream daily newspaper is calling for the erection of a new state to include Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Portage, Stark, Trumbull, and of course Ashtabula counties has been a warning sign to me, I think. Where I exactly belong is something I have yet to settle on.
They go to Red Bank, actually. Or at least they did 11 years ago.
The Ink Spot in Spring Lake? Has Keyport gentrified yet? A trip to Hoboken? Princeton?
But truthfully, having grown up in the area, there is no community of the sort that you're looking for. The infrastucture was organized around Home-Work-Shop, and each is only reachable by car. People are not very friendly (tribal identity, you know). It's very easy to hide out on the Jersey Shore.
If you think they're nasty and fratty now, wait until summer. It'll be an experience you'll never forget ;).
There really isn't anything like that around, unfortunately, but NYC is only a 2 hour train ride away!
